A highly developed and modern network
The decision to
set up in the HAUTS-DE-SEINE means being just at the gates of Paris, one of Europe's
leading economic capitals. With a total area of 176 square kilometers, the HAUTS-DE-SEINE
Department spans 25 kilometers from the Northwest to the Southwest of Paris and is
France's most dynamic area, allying both businesses development and good living.
Optimum accessibility
Thanks to its geographic situation
and its highly developed transportation network, the HAUTS-DE-SEINE Department is at the
center of national and international business and decision making. By rail, road, river or
air, the HAUTS-DE-SEINE has a rich and coherent transportation network which is constantly
evolving to meet the needs of businesses and citizens alike.
The network today
The HAUTS-DE-SEINE Department :
- The HAUTS-DE-SEINE Department is near the international airports of Roissy-Charles de
Gaulle (15 minutes from Gennevilliers) and Orly (5 minutes from Antony via Orlyval).
- It boasts over 1,575 kms of roadways, 130 kms of railways and 39 kms of river and canal
passages, all of which are an integral part of the national transportation network.
- The Port de Gennevilliers is a highly developed port facility covering 400 hectares at 5
kilometers distance from Paris. It is directly linked to the Ports of Normandy and offers
the features of a "multi-modal" transport hub, combining river, rail and highway
traffic.
- The HAUTS-DE-SEINE is crossed by four highways, 16 national and 21 county roadways, not
to mention its eight communities which border on the Paris Péripherique beltway.
- Public transit is especially well developed, with 3 RER lines, 6 Paris Métro lines and
innumerable bus lines.
Projects for the future
The Department's
transportation infrastructure is constantly improving, with many projects either on the
drawing board or under construction :
- Five of the six Paris Métro (subway) lines are being extended.
- Extension works on linking the Val de Seine Tramway to the RER (regional rapid transit)
Eole and the Météor Métro are being completed.
- Work underway on three highways (A15, A14 & A86), including the 7 kilometer
extension of A86 will be completed.
- A new link between the Périphérique Beltway and A15 is under completion.
- A new TGV (high speed train) station is being built in La Défense and will be connected
to the existing TGV network.
